General notification
The Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan maps must be read in conjunction with the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan text. These maps comprise eight maps for each part of Auckland. The first map contains the various zones and the following seven maps contain precincts, overlays, designations and scheduled sites of a similar character or nature. For information on icons within the maps, such as notable trees, refer to the associated appendix within the main text of the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan.
General Hauraki Gulf Islands explanation
The Regional Policy Statement, Regional Plan and Regional Plan Coastal provisions apply to all of Auckland including the Hauraki Gulf Islands. However, on land, where the Auckland Council District Plan (Hauraki Gulf Islands section) applies, District Plan provisions (that are not dual provisions) of the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan shall apply until the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan is amended to fully integrate the Hauraki Gulf Islands.
Tagging of maps
All zones, overlays, precincts, scheduled sites and designations are annotated pursuant to s80(8) of the Resource Management Act 1991 to identify whether they are Regional Policy Statement, Regional Plan Coastal, Regional Plan, District Plan or a combination of these (dual provisions). The following abbreviations have been used:
rps - Regional Policy Statement
rpc - Regional Plan Coastal
rp - Regional Plan
rps/rpc - (or any other combination using / ) dual provisions
dp - District Plan (note - only used depict provisions. Otherwise default category i.e. no abbreviation not used)

Coastline
The coastline has been identified as an approximation of the Mean High Water Springs (MHWS) location. Where a more accurate identification of MHWS is needed, a current survey undertaken by a registered surveyor must be done.
